NEW Creativity

I started a new project at the first of this year. P365.
This project is a way to force myself to use a lower level technology ; i.e. a Camera phone, to explore a much different, more simplistic view of the world around me. My goal is to take 1 photo a day for 365 days. I've encountered a few technical problems with uploads and file compatibility, but overall it has been a fun effort and definitely worthwhile.
So often we sit back and wait for that "perfect" shot. The breathtaking sunset, the perfect "decisive moment", an adorable mother and child, even the breaking news event. In our complacency we generally are unprepared and more often than not, we don't even have a camera with us to take the "perfect" picture. So much for the perfect shot!
By forcing myself to take a picture everyday I have solved at least one of the problems. Using a much lesser technology than I would normally use to shoot with has forced me to look for unique vantage points, and better compositions solving yet another problem. Interestingly it has also made me much more aware of my surroundings and all the missed opportunities I have had in the past for photos.
Are these images all "keepers"? Probably not, but then that really wasn't the goal to start with. Are the images any good? Absolutely! My plans are to use these images in some way to create a poster or a composite collage representing a year in my life. It may or may not be brilliant but it has certainly accomplished it purpose in motivating me.

Look around you, seek out the everyday, mundane things that we all notice but don't really see. Look at the shapes, the colors, the form. Look at the contrasts between theses things and their surroundings. Open you eyes to new things everywhere!

Try something new in your photography. Its a simple project like this that can revive your vision and creativity. Enjoy!!!
If you have any ideas for ways to inspire creativity or find new motivation I'd love to hear about them. You can reach me at kendall@kendalladams.com.
Have a great day!

  1. Hey..... I really LIKE your idea!!! ..and agree wholeheartedly about being complacent of "life" and "situations" around us... and not having a camera to capture the moment!!! Looking forward to following your progress!!! Wishing you the very best!!!!
